Community Farm & Food Bank
In 2020, as the COVID 19 pandemic crippled our local economy, Tikkun expanded our farm to approximate 5 acres in order to become a resource for local families in need.
We began distributing our organic produce - fruits, vegetables, corn and beans - as well as PPE and basic health supplies to families in need in the villages surrounding our farm, delivering bags every two weeks to our local school.
In 2021 we continued community food distribution, providing supplemental food to over 50 families in two villages, most of them single mothers with infants or small children, and elderly people without sufficient support. This averaged approximately 4200 meals per month.
In 2022, we stopped COVID food donations and focused our efforts on the restoring the village reservoir in order to create more substantial local water and food resilience in our community. The reservoir will help us expand our Home Gardens Project for local families.
We are prepared to offer our farm as a food bank in the event of further community crises.
